Exercise 7- Cramer

For my 3 "space" images, I modeled a small ruin area in the city of Pompeii that I had images of from a visit this past summer. For the "natural light" aspect, I used the sun and a point light to try to mimic the actual light of and textures of the space in the image. In the artificial light image, I focused a point light on the grass to highlight the central aspect of the space. In the hybrid light image, I used a cone light to highlight the columns and to play with shadows.

For my 3 "texture" images, I tried to model a series of stone walls that I also documented in Pompeii. The natural light image is the lightest of the three. I attempted to use the light to make the textures appear as they do in the photo, but was unsuccessful. In the artificial light image I played with moving and toning down the lights a bit, and it came out more successful in actually looking like the picture then the natural light image did. Lastly, in the hybrid light image, I played with adding color to the lights and how that would affect the spaces. I used a red light and really liked how it changed the look of the three spaces.

Exercise 7 - Joseph Oros

This is a zoomed in inverse model of the dark spot color pattern on giraffes. I attempted to recreate the hair on a giraffe using these spiked custom shapes mixed with cylinders. The light is somewhat arbitrary since the pattern is flat on a giraffe, but if it were 3D, the light is shown coming from different angles and with hues complimentary to the hues in a giraffe's coat pattern.

Exercise 7 - Weller

I rendered the voids of the texture created by the grid. I also rendered the grid with out the rustication to create shadows on the ground behind it.

Exercise 7 - Ensor

For the space image is was inspired by the asteroid chase in star wars II. I wanted to create the craters and hill that are on the asteroids. It then tried to use light to show the depth of the space.

Exercise 7 - Ensor

For the texture I look at the tree canopy. I wanted to use overlaping of light to create the space betweent the different layars of leafs.

Excercise 7 - Myers: Pattern and Space

In both of these studies I tried to use the light and the different rendering methods to create different images from the same perspectives. I then combined the different rendering and lighting schemes to create some depth on the page and, especially in the case of the pattern study, I tried to create a sense of multiple overlapping patterns.
